Current Projects
Hey all and happy spring!
WheaFarm has been busy already this season, with house members working to establish new projects and infrastructure. All of this is possible only with the essential support of our generous community members.
- This season, we have built two accessible raised beds -- accessible by wheelchair or for gardening without bending over -- to make WheaFarm more inclusive for the wider community.
- We've been hard at work building new raised beds to fully inaugurate the community garden, and are proud to have fourteen brand-new beds built with local lumber from Ben's Sawmill in Norton.
- New flower beds have been popping up around the Farm House, and are being slowly stocked with native perennials.
- Bird seed feeders, suet feeders, and hummingbird feeders are making WheaFarm into a bird refuge -- and squirrel hotel! -- and beds filled with wildflower seeds will make the garden a pollinator haven.
- New WheaFarm signs let community members know they're in a special place!
- An infusion of local compost into the garden has drastically improved the soil quality, and provided a store for future amendments in the new raised beds.
Thank you all so much for your generous support of and donations to WheaFarm. This is the year that we've finally been able to open the garden to the wider community, and we're excited to continue growing!
Late Summer Update
As summer vacation comes to an end and students begin returning to campus, WheaFarm transitions to a different kind of activity. The quiet summer management of the garden by Farm House residents will shift; WheaFarm will welcome back the campus community for more academic and experiential purposes.
The growing season thus far has been a significant growth period for WheaFarm, with significant physical reconstruction of the garden space, as well as a test run of community members coming in to garden in select plots. In the 2019 season, we hope to further open up WheaFarm to community members, and in so doing fully inaugurate WheaFarm as Wheaton's own community garden.
Growth like this wouldn't be possible without generous donations by community members like you. WheaFarm is quickly growing and becoming an active and well-respected landmark on Wheaton's campus. We, as managers of WheaFarm and members of the Wheaton community, thank you for supporting such a unique campus experience.

Pergola: Check!
Hi Everyone,
We can only begin to express how grateful we are for all of the support you have given thus far! Please feel free to share the fundraiser's link with friends and family.. We are half way to our goal!
This past weekend, with the help of the Smith family, we built a pergola- one of the projects that we had planned to tackle with funds from this project. The structure is 12x12ft and we've already had students from across campus hanging out, doing homework under it's shade. Can't wait to see what it looks like with vines growing up and across the lattice.
Finally, Farm Fest happening this Friday from 1-4 in the back yard of Farm House. If you are in the area please stop by. There will be live music, food trucks, a rock climbing wall and planting!
peace and love
